How to Install the KidProtect DNS?

Select your operating system by using the corresponding button below. This will filter the instructions for you.
  • Windows XP - Step 1

    Control Panel
    First select Control Panel from the Start menu.
    To accomplish this click on Start in the bottom left corner, then select Control Panel on the right column.
  • Windows XP - Step 2

    Network Connections
    Enter Network Connections from the Control Panel choices.
    To do this double click Network Connections on the Control Panel window that you opened previously.
  • Windows XP - Step 3

    Internet Connection
    Open Network Connection Properties from the Network Connections window opened previously.
    To complete this, right click on your connection from the Network Connections and click on Properties.
  • Windows XP - Step 4

    TCP/IP
    Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties.
    To make this, click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the list and then click on Properties button below, on the right.

    DNS Input
    Click on the small radio button Use the following DNS server addresses, and type inside the fields the KidProtect DNS addresses 212.47.252.200 and 212.47.254.200, then click on the OK button. Done.
  • Windows 7 - Step 1

    Control Panel
    Select Control Panel from the Start orb.
    To accomplish this click orb Start in the bottom left corner, then select Control Panel on the right column.
  • Windows 7 - Step 2

    Select Network Status
    Click on View Network Status and Tasks from the Network and Internet field.
    This will show all active networks of your computer so you may configure each one on the next step.

    View Connection Status
    Click on View Status text located on the right of your active internet connection.

    Properties Button
    On the connection status window click on Properties button located at bottom in the left side.

    Allow Changes
    Windows Vista and 7 may ask you for permissions to make changes, in such case click the Continue button to let the operating system make network changes.

    IPv4 Selection
    Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) and then click Properties.
    To do this, click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) from the list and then click on Properties button below, on the right.

    Change DNS IPv4
    Click on the small radio button Use the following DNS server addresses, and type inside the fields the KidProtect DNS addresses 212.47.252.200 and 212.47.254.200, then click on the OK button. Done.
  • Windows 7 - Step 8

    IPv6 Selection
    Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv6) and then click Properties.
    On remaining window, click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv6) from the list and then click on Properties button below, on the right.

    Change DNS IPv6
    Click on the small radio button Use the following DNS server addresses, and type inside the fields the KidProtect DNS addresses 2001:470:b7a7::a and 2001:470:5844::a, then click on the OK button. Done.
  • Windows 8 - Step 1

    Select Settings
    If you are using a PC, move the mouse cursor to the bottom or top right corner of the screen and select the cog icon for Settings. If you are using a tablet, swipe left from the right side of the screen and select Settings.
  • Windows 8 - Step 2

    Select Control Panel
    Select Control Panel from menu.
  • Windows 8 - Step 3

    Select Large or Small Icons
    In the Control Panel window select Category, and then select Large icons or Small icons.
  • Windows 8 - Step 4

    Open Network and Sharing Center
    Open Network and Sharing Center.

    Select Change adapter settings
    Select Change adapter settings from the top left corner menu.
  • Windows 8 - Step 6

    Right click to Properties
    Right click on your connected network (wired or wireless) and select Properties.

    (TCP/IPv4) Properties
    From the menu select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCIP/IPv4) and then click on button Properties.

    Change DNS
    Select Use the following DNS server addresses to change your computer (or tablet) DNS server addresses. Type in fields the following DNS servers: 212.47.252.200 and 212.47.254.200. Done.
  • Windows 8 - Step 9

    (TCP/IPv4) Properties
    From the menu select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCIP/IPv6) and then click on button Properties.
  • Windows 8 - Step 10

    Change DNS
    Select Use the following DNS server addresses to change your computer (or tablet) DNS server addresses. Type in fields the following DNS servers: 2001:470:b7a7::a and 2001:470:5844::a. Done.
  • Macintosh - Step 1

    Open Apple Menu
    Select System preferences, from the Apple menu. Open Apple menu from the upper left corner and click on System Preferences.
  • Macintosh - Step 2

    Access Network Settings
    Click Network from the Internet & Network row. For this, in the middle you will find the section Internet & Network, click on Network so you will modify the settings for networking.
  • Macintosh - Step 3

    Access Configuration
    Click on Configure button located at the bottom of the screen. This will open the configuration window.
  • Macintosh - Step 4

    DNS Input
    Type inside the DNS Server field the KidProtect DNS addresses 212.47.252.200 and 212.47.254.200 and then click Apply Now.
    Done.
  • Router - Step 1

    Login and find DNS Settings
    Login into the router configuration panel with your username and password. Find DNS configuration under Network or WAN configuration.
  • Router - Step 2

    Modify DNS Settings
    After finding the fields for DNS configuration, type in the KidProtect DNS addresses 212.47.252.200 and 212.47.254.200 then save settings.
    Done.
  • Linux Servers - Step 1

    Edit file: /etc/resolv.conf
    Login as root, or use root privileges, then set KidProtect DNS addresses of nameservers 212.47.252.200, 212.47.254.200, 2001:470:b7a7::a, 2001:470:5844::a, in file /etc/resolv.conf.
  • Linux Servers - Step 2

    Check file: /etc/resolv.conf
    Because servers are extremely important, check your /etc/resolv.conf file to see if modifications were made. For this use command cat /etc/resolv.conf and verify the output.
